Cary Tsamas was born in Giannitsa, a town in the Northern Greek region of Macedonia. He grew up playing soccer and played professionally there before moving to the US with his family. Since moving to Lexington, KY over 20 years ago, he has been part of the Central Kentucky soccer community, coaching boys and girls, of all ages, at different levels.
He has coached for LYSA, Kickers, ODP, was coach of the Sayre High School boys varsity team for eleven years, and for nine years served as the Head Coach for the Berea College Women’s soccer team. Cary was also the GM of the Lexington Bluegrass Bandits, a semi-professional team in the mid 90s, and served as Assistant to the President for the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).
Cary has seen the development of the American soccer player and the system in which this development takes place.
He has strong feelings about every level of the developmental process, and the fallacy of athletic scholarships.
He was recently appointed Coaching Director for Lexington Youth Soccer Association (LYSA).
Cary has two children, a boy and a girl. While they both played soccer, mostly to appease him, they decided to concentrate on tennis.

Alex Moody - For more than 20 years, goalkeeping has been a part of my life. As a player, coach and president of the University of Kentucky's club soccer team, I have played all over the country and been a delegate to the World Sports Festival in Vienna, Austria, representing the United States. In my travels, I have been lucky enough to meet one of my idols, Dutch goalkeeping legend Edwin Van Der Sar and to have played with a Brazilian professional team.
